Analysis machine:
 Historically a linear Barcode has been used, so a standard laser reader solves this application. In order to better trace the vials containing the product to be analyzed, some manufacturers are starting to use PDF417 or Data-Matrix codes, therefore, a 2D reader is needed. The code resolution is medium-high (0,2 - 0,3 mm module) and it is printed on a label, and then applied on the vials. |

Access control:
 Access control mechanisms can be used to manage human resources (such as a movie theatre, to which only ticket holders are admitted), logical resources (a bank account, with a limited number of people authorized to make a withdrawal), or digital resources (a private text document on a computer, which only approved users should be granted access). This can be done through 1D or 2D Code Reader. This technology can be exploited in Item Control or Electronic Key Management. In particular, this is an area within (and possibly integrated with) an access control system based on the traceability of small assets or keys. |

Print & Apply:
 Reading conditions are well established in OEM machines. Frequently the reading distance is standard and the barcode printing quality is very good.
In these applications the key success factors are the high scan speed and the compactness of the reader. Flexible 90° versions can be successfully adopted.

Document Handling:
 The unsorted mail collected at a local post office is delivered to a centralized general mail facility which needs to put millions of pieces of mail in order as soon as possible.
